The life-altering floods in July 2022 forever changed the landscape and the people of Eastern Kentucky.

Especially the Baker family, who lost everything.

Wife, mother and grandmother, Vanessa, was the only person never found.

Her husband, Farmer, hasn’t stopped looking for her.

Just a few weeks before the floods, Vanessa had reached out to Sherry Robinson, whom she’d never met, to finish a quilt.

“It was for a gift, and I had two weeks to do it,” said Robinson.

However, she was never able to return the finished quilt to Vanessa.

“I actually saw it on the TV, and I was heart sunk,” she said. “I thought there is no way this could be happening, and that’s what happened.”

For a year, Sherry looked for the Baker family, but had no way of contacting them. She eventually placed the quilt in a protective bag and shelved it.

That was, until the two-year anniversary.
